Definitely, education is of great importance in Costa Rica. The educational standards have significantly risen in the country during the last twenty years. There are six grade levels in the elementary schools. Till the year 1940, Costa Rica had no university to boast of. Currently, there are four state funded universities in operation and a myriad of private ones as well, assuring a smooth disbursement of knowledge.
