A Few Lawn Care Tips For The Spring

Caring for your lawn isn’t a task that you can take up and put down whenever you want. If you want to have a lovely lush and green lawn then you will need to take care of it throughout the year. This is true of any time of year, but especially during the spring. With this in mind, here are a couple of simple lawn care tips for the spring.

When your lawn comes out from the other side of winter you won’t necessarily know how it is going to appear. It could be green and lush or it can be very barren with dry patches everywhere. This, thankfully, shouldn’t be too much of a problem as springtime is perfect to reseed and re-grow your lawn.

It is absolutely critical that you remember to keep your lawn properly watered once you have put down sod or after you have put down seeds. As your grass grows it is going to take on a lot of water and if you don’t continue to water your lawn regularly, the seeds are going to whither away.

Fertilising your lawn during the spring isn’t always a great idea. The reason for this is very simple. The nitrogen that is present within the fertiliser is going to make the blades grow quicker than the roots. The roots, therefore, will fail to take hold and this can often lead to serious problems when someone arrives because the roots are not able to conserve sufficient water reserves to keep the blades growing without much rain.

Possibly the most difficult part of caring for your lawn properly at any time of year is in combating the growth of weeds. In order to help with this fight it is always a good idea to get yourself a low grade weedkiller that will help fight off the weed without actually causing any damage to your lawn, especially if you are trying to regrow it.

Apply these simple tips properly and your lawn should be absolutely fine.
